Shailesh Vara, MP for North West Cambridgeshire, officially opened the Yaxley Festival last Saturday with fellow Patron and actor Warwick Davis.

The two day event was the result of a huge effort by the organising committee who were all volunteers from the surrounding area.

The Festival was a family occasion, with something for everyone to do. Activities ranged from a funfair to various stalls covering local history and community activities. There were also performances by local school children.

The event proved to be very successful with figures suggesting that some 22,000 people attended.

Mr Vara said:

“The Yaxley Festival was a great success and it was a privilege to be its Patron along with Warwick Davis. Congratulations to the many volunteers who put in so much of their own time to ensure the success of the two day event.

There was plenty for people to see and be involved with and it was a real family occasion with something for everyone to do.”
