Vara Visits Stamford Endowed School’s “India Week”

Shailesh Vara MP last week visited Stamford Endowed School as part of the school’s “India Week”.

Mr Vara met with staff and students who put on a week of events to celebrate the links they have forged with two schools in Vellore, India. Launched in June 2016, the ‘Lincs to India’ project seeks to build partnerships between the schools and promote awareness of Indian culture. Charitable fundraising has also taken place to improve the facilities at the Indian schools and students will also be sending books to their colleagues abroad.

Following the visit, Mr Vara said:

“I was delighted to be invited to the school’s India Week and was very impressed, not only with the quality of the events put on, but also the knowledge of India displayed by the pupils.

Although India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, it has one of the largest populations and we should not forget that the country still has areas of extreme poverty. Events like India week are therefore very important for raising awareness of these issues.

My congratulations to the staff and pupils of the school for putting on such a worthwhile event.”
