Vara visits Bury Garden Show

Shailesh Vara MP visited the Annual Garden Show in Bury at the weekend run by the Bury Garden Committee.

Mr Vara met with members of the committee, both past and present, as well as talking with exhibitors and visitors generally. In his speech, Mr Vara thanked the organising committee for again putting on a very successful show and congratulated the entrants in the various categories for the very high standard of the entries.

The event, held in the village hall, was a great success with a large number of entries for a wide range of fruits, vegetables, cakes, biscuits, preserves and flowers. The hall was packed full of local people despite the rain and those attending also had the opportunity to see a display of exhibits of arts and crafts made by children from Bury Primary School.

Prizes were awarded for the various categories of entry.

Following the event Mr Vara said:

"I enjoyed attending the show and was very impressed with the amount of work that people had put in. The standard of the entries was very high.

It was lovely to see such a thriving village event with both young and old competing together in a variety of different categories."

Garden Committee Member, Peter Hazell, added:

"We were very pleased to welcome Shailesh to the Bury Garden Show at the weekend.

It was great to see our MP taking such an interest in both the exhibits and the exhibitors and he rated Bury as one of the best garden shows in the area."
