Shailesh Vara MP visited the Pack Horse Pub in Northborough last Saturday following the pub being awarded a prestigious “Star Pub and Bars” award by the Heineken UK Group.

The national award was in the ‘New to Food’ category with the Pack Horse coming first ahead of 1300 other pubs. The pub is family run by Head Chef Keith Smee along with sons Sam and Jack.

As well as a lunch and evening menu, there will be monthly pie nights as well as theme nights.

Mr Vara visited The Pack Horse to taste some of the award-winning food for himself and was in no doubt as to its high standard and quality.

Mr Vara said:
“The Pack Horse is a great pub and it was a pleasure to try out some of the food on offer. The menu is varied and the food certainly lived up to its award-winning reputation. But it’s not only good food that counts. Service is also important and that too was very efficient and friendly. I for one shall certainly be visiting the pub again and I congratulate Keith and his two sons Sam and Jack on their well-deserved award.”

Sam Smee added:
“We were delighted to welcome Shailesh and friends into the pub for lunch. It was a surprise visit following our recent ‘New to Food’ award from Star Pubs and Bars. It’s always nice to receive recognition, especially from your local MP.”
