Shailesh Vara switched on the Ramsey Christmas Lights on Saturday to officially set the ball rolling for the town’s Christmas celebrations.

The popular annual event was topped off by a fireworks display with more entertainment provided by children and the local Rotary Club, alongside street stalls with festive items.

Mr Vara said:
“I am very happy to again switch on the lights to mark the beginning of the Christmas festivities in Ramsey. This is always a very enjoyable event with the community coming together for an evening of seasonal celebration.

“The Ramsey Christmas Lights Committee have worked very hard to arrange this event and I congratulate everyone involved for organising a great evening.”

Mrs Angie Curtis, Chairman of the Ramsey Christmas Lights Committee and member of Ramsey Town Council, added:
"We are a new committee putting the lights on in Ramsey this year. It is a year-round challenge which ends with our Grand Switch-On Event in the town. We are so pleased that, once again, our MP Shailesh Vara, has made time to join us and ensure that our lights are well and truly switched on!!"
