Shailesh Vara, MP for North West Cambridgeshire, has given his support for Emma Ward and Melissa Clarke who will be running in the 2012 London Marathon on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support.

In December 2011 there was a successful event at the Angel Spice in Stilton, which raised £1875. This sum was £125 short of the £2000 required for Ms Ward and Ms Clarke to enter the race.

Mr Vara said, “This is a worthwhile cause that can really make a difference to peoples’ lives. I wish Emma and Melissa the best of luck on the day and I look forward to hearing what times they complete the race in.”

Ms Clarke and Ms Ward added, “We would like to thank our friends and family for their help and support in raising the money required to compete in the race. We are especially grateful to Angel Spice and their customers.”

Mr Thahir Uddin of Angel Spice, added, “I’m delighted that Angel Spice of Stilton was able to help raise the majority of funds required for Emma and Melissa to compete in the 2012 London Marathon. It is truly for a great cause.”
