Shailesh Vara has shown his support for the anti-domestic violence White Ribbon Campaign (WRC).

Mr Vara has joined fellow MPs and the Home Secretary, the Rt Hon Theresa May MP, in raising awareness of the campaign’s work in tackling domestic violence against women.

WRC was set up in 1991 by a handful of Canadian men with the aim of urging other men to take more responsibility in speaking out against violence from men against women. The UK branch of WRC started in 2004.

To support the campaign men are urged to wear a white ribbon as a personal pledge never to ‘commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women’.

Mr Vara said:
“I am delighted to support the White Ribbon Campaign. Domestic violence of any kind is a social evil that needs to be stamped out and this very worthy campaign continues to work hard to raise awareness of the issue.”
