Shailesh Vara, Member of Parliament for North West Cambridgeshire, recently presented a cheque for £10,000 to the Ramsey Initiative, a voluntary community group working to drive enterprise and investment into Ramsey and the surrounding areas. Mr Vara helped to secure the funds which came from the Department for Communities and Local Government via their Town Team Partners Scheme. The money will be used to further improve the local loyalty card scheme into an electronic system enabling shoppers to accumulate points when making purchases in Ramsey.

Mr Vara made the presentation in the Darling Mews part of Ramsey to members of the Executive Committee of the Initiative, Jane Roberts, Darren Williams, Phil Underwood and Gina Randall.

Mr Vara said: -

“I am delighted to have helped secure this money which will provide some much needed funds to improve the local loyalty card. This will help the local economy, which has got to be good news. I look forward to working further with the Ramsey Initiative to help develop the Town and surrounding area.

Darren Williams, of the Ramsey Initiative said:

“ With the support of our MP, Shailesh Vara, it was great be able to secure this funding and over the coming months we look forward to being able to develop our existing loyalty card scheme into an electronic based system where the customers can accumulate points for shopping locally in Ramsey. These points can then be redeemed for vouchers in their favourite shops in the town”.
