Shailesh Vara, Member of Parliament for North West Cambridgeshire, will open the newly refurbished Discovery Centre at Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre on Saturday, 14th May 2012.

The Discovery Centre was recently refurbished with the aid of a £1,000 grant from the Community Leadership Fund administered by Peterborough City Council.

The Centre will provide a much needed facility for school visits, enabling school children to learn about the importance of food and farming in Britain, whilst highlighting the role farming can play in helping to protect the valuable habitats that the country's wildlife need to exist and flourish. The Centre will also offer people the opportunity to interact and discover more about a wide range of Britain's small animals.

After the official opening, Mr Vara will tour the Centre, and meet with staff and stakeholders.

Mr Vara said:
"I am delighted to be opening the newly refurbished building. The Centre will be a valuable educational resource for all and will provide an opportunity to learn more about the importance of farming as well as providing a better knowledge of the rich and diverse wildlife that lives in our countryside. I hope that as many people as possible will visit the centre."
