Vara congratulates Somersham Parish Council

Shailesh Vara MP welcomes the news that Somersham Parish Council recently received the Quality Gold award as part of the Local Council Award Scheme. The award recognises that the Council meets the high standards set by the parish council sector. It also acknowledges the good work they do in their parish duties, community activities and financial matters. It is through local councils working together and sharing best practice that standards will be driven up aiding those who are committed to improving their offer to their communities. That way individual councils and the sector as a whole will reach its full potential.

Following the announcement, Mr Vara said: -

“I was pleased to learn that the hard work of Somersham Parish Council has been formally recognised by the National Association of Local Councils with Cambridgeshire & Peterborough County Association of Local Councils. Local councils are at the very heart of their communities; giving neighbourhoods a voice and making people more involved in the decisions that affect them. Somersham Parish Council do an excellent job serving their community and I will continue to support their endeavours to improve the local area.’
