Shailesh Vara MP recently visited the Rainbow Surgery in Ramsey to see the work being carried out on alcoholism by Drs Arun and Rita Aggarwal together with the charity, the Gainsborough Foundation.

The partnership between the surgery and the Gainsborough Foundation has recently received a number of national awards which recognise the vital work being carried out in helping people suffering from alcoholism face and overcome their addiction.

Mr Vara met with some of the people who have benefitted from the work being undertaken at the surgery and was also introduced to the staff who deliver this service to residents in the wider Huntingdonshire area.

Mr Vara commented:
“Alcoholism is a very difficult addiction to come to terms with and can destroy not only the lives of those with the addiction, but also their family and friends.

“My visit to the surgery was very informative and I was particularly impressed with the commitment and dedication of all those involved in helping people deal with their addiction, and this includes people who were previously addicts themselves. I wish the Rainbow Surgery and the Gainsborough Foundation continued success in all that they do.”

Nick Charles MBE, Gainsborough Foundation Founder/Director and author of the Recovery Programme added:
“Mr Vara was a breath of fresh air and brought with him much encouragement and created a new optimism with his pledge to bring GF’s work to the notice of his colleagues in Westminster. I am encouraged to believe this will not be the last GF hears from Shailesh Vara.”
