Shailesh Vara MP recently met with senior personnel from the East Anglian Air Ambulance at a Parliamentary reception. Mr Vara discussed issues of importance with the Air Ambulance’s management and other key stakeholders.

Mr Vara spoke with Mr Patrick Peal, the new Chief Executive who took over from Mr Tim Page in April 2014. Mr Peal updated Mr Vara on the Air Ambulance’s current position and what he wants to achieve in his time at the helm of the charity. Mr Vara was particularly keen to learn of the charity’s efforts at mounting flying operations at night which began last year.

Mr Vara commented:
“I was very pleased to be able to catch up with senior members of the East Anglian Air Ambulance and to learn of its very latest developments. The Air Ambulance plays a vital role in the region and I am sure a large number of people living in the area have cause to thank its staff for their help over the years. The Air Ambulance does an excellent job with all of its funding coming from charitable donations. Long may it continue.”

Mr Peal said:
“The reception was a welcome opportunity to meet and talk to our region’s MP’s and our colleagues at other air ambulances. Strengthening partnerships between air ambulance charities and with the public sector will undoubtedly help us to help the patient.”
