Could Nene Park be crowned the best park in the UK?

Shailesh Vara MP has congratulated Nene Park, in Peterborough, on its nomination for the Best Park ‘As voted by you’ Award 2016, organised by the charity, Field in Trust.

A total of 214 parks and green spaces have been nominated across the UK. Nominations include large nature reserves and small community gardens, sports fields and playgrounds. Nene Park now needs public votes to win before the polls close this Wednesday.

Mr Vara said:

“I would like to congratulate Nene Park on its nomination for this year’s Best Park Award. Nene Park is a fantastic resource, and we are very lucky to have such a lovely space on our doorsteps. A lot of hard work goes into the park and it would be good to recognise all the Trust’s hard work and the importance of Nene Park to our community.

If you haven’t done so already, I would recommend spending a minute to register your vote today”.

Mr Bradbury, Chief Executive of Nene Park Trust, said:

“We are delighted and humbled that we have been nominated for the ‘UK’s Best Park’ award. We and our volunteers and partners are extremely grateful that the considerable commitment that is made daily to the management and activities within the Park is being recognised. We are equally delighted to have the support of Shailesh Vara MP in supporting Nene Park and helping to spread the word to our communities and visitors of our campaign to win the award”.

Nene Park is one of 28 parks in the East of England region that have been shortlisted. The deadline for votes is this Wednesday, 9th November. It only takes a minute to vote and you can do this via the Fields in Trust website:
