Shailesh Vara MP has welcomed the announcement today by the Rt Hon Danny Alexander MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, concerning improvements for the A14.

Mr Alexander announced that the government would be providing substantial funds to make major changes to the A14, with construction beginning in 2016.

This is much needed investment and the government’s decision is welcome news for motorists and it will provide a significant boost for the region’s economy when the work is completed.

Mr Vara said:

“This is excellent news. Substantial work on the A14 is long overdue as a better A14 will not only benefit motorists, but it will be good for the region’s economy and prosperity. A lot of people have campaigned hard for this decision over many years and it is good that we can finally start to prepare for the construction works in 2016.”
