Shailesh Vara, Member of Parliament for North West Cambridgeshire, will be presenting an array of cups and trophies to members of the Ramsey and District Horticultural Society at the Rural Museum in Ramsey. He will be making the presentations in the afternoon on Saturday 23rd July 2011.

The show, which plays an important role in the Society’s annual activities, marks the nineteenth anniversary since the Society was re-formed in 1992. The Society was originally formed in 1882 and was dissolved around the early 1950’s, only to be started again many years later. The event is intended to appeal to all members of the local community and to mark the occasion, a historic walled garden will be made available to the general public.

Mr Vara said: “It is a pleasure to be presenting the awards to members of the Society. This promises to be an enjoyable afternoon for the whole family and I hope there is a big turnout.”

“Moreover, as well as the show itself, there is the added bonus of having a great local venue as the Museum is a much valued local tourist attraction.”

Mr Ian Gaunt, Chairman and Show Secretary of the Ramsey and District Horticultural Society commented: “We are delighted that Mr Vara is able to attend our nineteenth annual show. His attendance will no doubt help promote the importance of the society and the museum in the local area.”

“It is an excellent event for people that have an interest in gardening, whether they are an amateur or professional. However, the show is not just for avid gardeners, we try to appeal to all aspects of the community in order to maximise the fun.”
