Vara celebrates local teacher’s prestigious award.

Shailesh Vara MP attended the Pearson Teaching Awards Parliamentary reception to congratulate Mr James Horwood of Fourfields Community Primary School on his silver award.

The Pearson Teaching Awards are an annual celebration of exceptional teachers, founded in 1998 by Lord Puttnam to recognise the life-changing impact an inspirational teacher can have on the lives of the young people they teach.

Selected from thousands of nominations, Mr Horwood is one of just 65 winners of this prestigious accolade as the National Teaching awards marks its 20th year of celebrating excellence in education.

Mr Vara said:

“It was great to meet Mr Horwood at the reception last week and to hear about the wonderful work he is doing with the students at Fourfields Community Primary School.

“Mr Horwood will now join his fellow Silver Award winners at the 20th UK Ceremony of the Pearson Teaching Awards to find out which of them has won one of just 12 Gold Awards.

“I know the whole school is behind him and I wish him every success.”
