Vara takes trip to Thomas Cook

Shailesh Vara MP recently visited Thomas Cook at its headquarters in Lynch Wood, Peterborough and met with Managing Director for the UK and Ireland, Mr Chris Mottershead. Mr Vara also had a tour of the premises and saw first-hand the Company's operation in its new premises since August 2016.

Thomas Cook provides employment for some 1200 people in its modern building with staff handling enquiries on a variety of issues for people wishing to travel abroad.

Mr Vara's meeting with Mr Mottershead covered a range of subjects including the UK's decision to leave the European Union, holiday sickness claims and reform of the ATOL protection scheme.

Following the visit, Mr Vara said:-

“It was a pleasure to visit Thomas Cook, one of Peterborough's largest employers.

“I was very impressed with their new premises and the modern facilities available to staff. It was also good to see such an enthusiastic attitude from the team of workers.

“Chris Mottershead has an excellent vision for the company's future and I wish him and all of the staff working at Lynch Wood the very best for the years to come.”

Chris Mottershead, Managing Director of Thomas Cook UK and Ireland said:

“It's great to see our local MP showing his support for one of the biggest employers in Peterborough. Thomas Cook has a long and rich history in the area dating back to 1974, and our investment in a new location in the city last year reconfirmed our commitment to it. We look forward to working with Shailesh on local matters to help his constituents who are both our customers and employees.”
