Shailesh Vara MP’s Statement re Thomas Cook

Following the financial situation of the tour operator Thomas Cook, whose UK headquarters are based in North West Cambridgeshire, Shailesh Vara MP said:

“I have spoken with Thomas Cook today and am assured that whilst the situation is very serious, everything possible is being done to try to secure the additional £200 million required by the lenders.

This is obviously a worrying time for all concerned, especially the company’s 9000 UK employees of whom 1200 are in my constituency, as well as for the many people who have booked holidays with the company.

I very much hope that a positive solution will be found over the weekend to enable one of the world’s oldest holiday companies to continue to operate.”
