Shailesh Vara, Member of Parliament for North West Cambridgeshire, last week joined members of the Bluntisham and Colne Over 60’s Club to celebrate their 60th Anniversary at Bluntisham Village Hall.

The Club, which is self-funding, is organised by volunteers and members come from the villages of Bluntisham, Earith, Colne, Somersham, Pidley, Old Hurst and Wood Hurst. Entertainment and refreshments are provided as well as a place for senior citizens to meet.

The Club operates from February to July and from September to December. When the Village Hall is in use the Club meets in The Lounge at Bluntisham Service Station.

Mr Vara said:
“I was delighted to join members in celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Club. I would like to pay tribute to the hard work of the volunteers who run it. The success of the Club reflects the strong community spirit in the local areas.

“This Club provides a valued place for senior citizens to meet up in a safe environment on a regular basis. I wish it every success for its next 60 years.”
