Shailesh Vara, MP for North West Cambridgeshire, visited Somersham Kids Time Club yesterday, Thursday 21st September. Mr Vara met with the children and staff, as well as some of the parents involved in running the scheme.
The Kids Time Club is an after school club set up and managed by a committee of local parents. It is a registered charity and a non-profit making organisation designed to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for the children when they have finished school. Professional staff are employed to look after the children and the club is funded by a fee charged for each child who attends. The Club operates on the grounds of Somersham Primary School, although it is not affiliated to the school in any way.
Mr Vara said:
"Kids Time Club is a fantastic initiative which only exists because of the dedication and community spirit of local people. The Club is of tremendous benefit to so many parents who have young children but also have to work. I was very impressed with commitment of the staff and volunteers I met on the day. I was particularly pleased to see that the children were so well looked after and that there was such wide range of activities they could take part in.
