Shailesh Vara, MP for North West Cambridgeshire, recently took part in a ceremony to mark the completion of the first stage of works at the PE2 Morley Way development. Also attending were the Deputy Mayor of Peterborough City Council, Cllr Marion Todd, and directors of the site owners, Wrenbridge Land Ltd and senior personnel of other companies involved with the project.
Mr Vara, joined by Cllr Todd, was lifted up in a cherry picker to tighten a bolt at the next level of the building. The new development will comprise of 130,000 square feet of production and warehouse space. It is hoped that after the site is completed after Christmas, companies moving into the space will provide a boost to the local economy.
Mr Vara said:
"This will be a brand new building which will benefit the local economy with the extra jobs that will be created.
"It is not everyday that I go up in a cherry picker to tighten a bolt on a major construction. It was quite wobbly on the picker, some 12 metres above the ground!"
